I won’t link to it directly, but do a quick search for the following MD5 hash and you’ll find the correct one to get the port working.Ĭorrect MD5 hash: 20b854b239203baf6c961b850a4a51a2 No more just picking out games at random at Hollywood Video based on the cool box art, or just getting random games for Christmas or birthdays from parents or relatives and playing them because you had nothing else, even if it was shit.I’ve seen a few threads being posted on how to get the SM64 port running on an RG35XX with GarlicOS, so I thought I’d write a short guide on how to do just that.įirst, head over to this website and download the Super Mario 64 port file created by a user named eggs. I'd say that's probably where the sheer, overwhelming childhood nostalgia ends - I definitely do fondly remember things from the GameCube and PS2 era, but I was 10 when I got my GameCube, and was starting to become more reliant on the Internet for gaming news, reviews etc. Aside from the Sonics I loved playing Crazy Taxi and Tony Hawk. I never ended up owning it but I at least rented Soul Calibur so I could have my mind blown by the graphics, even if I wasn't big into fighting games. I've since sold that DC, which I somewhat regret, but the one I have now used to belong to Minnesota's current governor Tim Walz, which I think makes for a cooler conversation piece, lol. I made a deal with my parents where they would set aside my monthly allowance (which was like, $15 a month) for the full year leading up to Christmas, and that my Christmas present that year would be the Dreamcast with Sonic Adventure. Somehow in '99 as a 7-year-old I came across stuff about it online, since it had already come out in Japan. My real nostalgic punch is probably the Dreamcast. Likewise our daycare lady had a SNES, so most of my childhood SNES memories came from playing it over there, Mario World and DKC1 being the main ones we played, but I also remember they had F-Zero, Joe and Mac and a Power Rangers beat-em-up (which I was disappointed to find out as a kid that the Genesis "version" of that game was a completely different tournament fighter). We eventually got a bundle with Stadium one Christmas, along with Mario Tennis, and somehow never bought another N64 game. I'd say Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie and the Pokemon games (Stadium and Snap specifically) were my favorites. Never had an N64 but I feel like you couldn't really escape it as a kid in that era. My dad also loved Cool Boarders 2, though I could never figure it out for myself. In fact, for Christmas that year I remember getting Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi, while my younger brother got Rugrats: Search for Reptar (ended up being my favorite of the bunch) and my older sister got Spice Girls, which could barely be called a game and I don't think we ever figured out how to play it. Got a PS1 later - Crash, Spyro, Croc and Tony Hawk were the main ones I remember that weren't attached to licenses, which we got quite a few of as well. I also remember renting the hell out of Toy Story, and being extremely put off by Mortal Kombat. Eventually got the other Sonic games as well - Sonic 3 and Sonic Spinball one Christmas, Sonic & Knuckles and 3D Blast years later. Pac-Man, Spider-Man) but those were the main ones I played. We had a few other games (Ecco, Toe Jam & Earl, Ms. Got a Genesis shortly after with Sonic 1, 2 and Aladdin. We had an NES already when I was born, so I have fond memories of stuff like Mario, Punch-Out and TMNT. Nothing can get me so nostalgic as a Final Fantasy PS1 game and specially Final Fantasy VII though. When I bought my PlayStation 3 Slim at Uncharted 2 launch my hardcore gaming started again and I bought sooo many PS3 games.īut on ps4 and 5 I have played some of the PS2 generation games which I have loved and would have nostalgia for if I would have played it back then: The only games I loved from that period then was FF10 and Twilight Princess and just played a couple of more. That's because I didn't play so many new titles between 2001-2009. I lately started to feel nostalgic for some PS3 games, more than PS2 and Wii. Most of my favorite games are on PS1 though, borrowed PS1 and 2 from friends a lot and played with others. I did only own Snes, N64,Wii before 2009 and then Ps3 slim, Ps4 (and Pro), Vita, Switch and PS5 after. I'm was only nostalgic to SNES, PS1 and N64.
